Grandma Sue

Grandma Sue came for a visit and we had a blast. Ella got lots of attention and I got some alone time :) We went to the beach, played in the pool, went shopping and went to a preview Gymboree music class. Ella LOVED the class! She is signed up now for every Tuesday morning this month. The ages of the babies in the class are 6 months-16 months, so I feel like she is the perfect age. I was SO happy to see her join in the activities and explore without hesitation. Here are some recent pics

11 months!

Anytime now I believe we will have a walking baby! I don't think I am ready for that since it is further to fall, BUT she is getting SO heavy to carry. She has stood up on her own not holding onto anything several times and loves to push her leapfrog push walker. I have to get a video of that. It is so funny to see this little person just trotting along.
Her latest accomplishments are signing "all done","more" and says "hi" all the time. The last pic with her hands above her head is what she does when I say "ta-dah" Anyway, I could go on and on with her many tricks, but I don't want to be one of those moms :)

Ring - Ring Telephone

Grandma Gini got Ella a phone almost identical to the one I had has a kid-rotary dial and all. When you turn the number dial it makes a ringing noise and I say, "phone is ringing Ella who is it?" She now picks it up and holds it to her ear and says, "ooh" -which I believe is hello. For some reason the receiver cord is really short, so she basically has to pick up the whole phone to answer it. I think we will have to get a cordless phone after she masters this one and then of course we will move on to a cell phone.

(note-Ella is not really kept in a cage all day (gate in background of pics). We gate off an area of the living room that is not safe with a big gate and leave it open most of the time. She does occasionally go in the corral(closed up gates),so I can take a break from chasing her. Of course I sit in the corral with her :)

10 months old + fun with Grandma Gini

What a fun week we had with Grandma Gini! Ella had so much fun playing with grandma and I was given a break from some dirty diapers and messy meals. We went to the zoo, the beach and did lots of playing at home. Grandma taught Ella how to wave bye-bye. She practiced while sitting on grandma's lap on the front porch to all the cars driving past. Grandma also taught Ella how to blow kisses. Well kinda - she just does the blow part, but its awfully cute! Hopefully grandma Sue comes soon and Ella can enjoy getting tons of love from another grandma and show off all her skills.

I am so glad Ella is not as anxious around people as she used to be. She will play great with anyone, but will only let certain people hold her- me, BT, grandma Gini, and grandma Sue. Although she did reach out for Angela to hold her today so that is great progress! Anyway, I just want her to not be as painfully shy as I was, so hopefully she will get her daddy's charming personality!

So all of Ella's talents to date are clapping, standing while holding onto something one-handed, starting to cruise, waving, saying bye-bye, uh-oh, mama, dada, oh wow, and she signs doggie. My favorite is when she claps at all the right spots of "when your happy and you know it." It is adorable, but I am bias of course!

(I did not get a ton of pics this week, because if you know my mom she is pretty good about taking pics ;). I will need to download them from her camera when I see her next and add some more then.)

Fun in the Sun

We stayed at the beach for almost 3 hrs. today! Ella happily stayed on the blanket under the umbrella chewing and playing with her beach toys. This lasted for about 15 minutes until she decided the sunblock bottle and camera case were far more entertaining. I believe when the novelty of the beach wears off Ella will be on the move. For now it sure is nice to sit and enjoy some sun while she happily played in between us. Ella's beach bud Sophia came down and shared her pool with Ella. They enjoyed splashing and tasting all the toys in the pool. I have a feeling these two are going to have lots of beach memories together!

Beach Bunny

We finally ventured to the beach with Ella and a buggy full of beach supplies.

Ella happily played on the blanket with her new beach toys. We coaxed her to check out the sand and she was not impressed. She made a very girly ick face and tried to get it off her hands immediately. Ella still managed to get sand on every part of her body including in her ears. Luckily she did not feel the need to taste it...this time.

Unlike Ella, Sophia kept on her hat and sunglasses. Ella decided Sophia needed to take off her glasses too, so she kindly removed them for her several times, along with her binky.

All in all a successful 75 minutes at the beach. I do believe the packing and unpacking took at least 2 hours ;)

Ella Clapping

Ella LOVES the Silly Pizza Song from Signing Times (a show about learning to sign). Here is a video of her bouncing along and clapping to the song. Sorry about the wobbly video taping I did it with the camera. Enjoy I know I did :)

We have had a fun filled Memorial weekend. We kicked off the weekend with drinks at Kyle, Angela and Hayden's house. Hayden slept most of the time, (good baby) and Ella got into everything. We were able to get a pic of Hayden and Ella together. We had a cookout Saturday and the babies all seemed to enjoy themselves ( I think the adults did too ;) Ella is working on her gentle touch. She gave poor Sophia some good swipes. Steve, Kim and Sophia had us over for a cookout today. Sophia stood her ground more on her own turf :) Ella is starting to pull up and stand A LOT more. Crazy what she can do in just one week. Hope every one's weekend was fun!

I can't believe my baby girl is 9 months old! She weighed in at 19lbs. 5 oz. and 29" long at her doctor's appt. She is starting to pull up to stand, which I am totally not ready for yet! We got the okay to start some table foods, so that should be interesting! She is already enjoying feeding herself puffs (cereal like) and likes to see how many she can get into her mouth at once. Each day is a new adventure for both of us!

Crawling

Look how she has grown!!! Since Ella has started crawling she is into EVERYTHING! She learned how to crawl and then the next week she learned how to turbo crawl. Her favorite thing to get is the cat, which is really the worst thing she can get if you know Ally. My day is spent redirecting, chasing and keeping up with my little adventurer. It is amazing to watch the wheels turning in her brain as she discovers something new on her hunts. She is growing soooo fast. Here are a few pics. The one of her swinging is the most recent (she LOVES to swing).
